MarkerScan is a software application to accurately measure points in the real world with the use of markers provided on our website and the camera in your mobile phone, hereafter referred to as the "App".
Science [&] Technology Vision B.V. allows people to download the app by means of the Google play store and the Apple store for Android and iOS respectively, hereafter referred to as "User".
This app is produced by:
Science [&] Technology Vision B.V Olof Palmestraat 14, 2616 LR Delft, The Netherlands PO Box 608, 2600 AP Delft, The Netherlands T: +31 15 215 29 93 W: www.stvision.nl
It describes the detailed reason for this data collection and the purposes for which the data may be used.
In general, the data is collected for the specific purpose of calculating the points in the real world.
Specific reasons are given below.
When you use the MarkerScan App, the following data may be stored on your device for the purposes of calculating points in the real world and enhancing user experience.
The user information and preferences such as contact name and email address as well as how many purchase credits the user has left is stored onto the device.
The user information and preferences are stored to enhance the user experience by making sure the user does not have to fill in the preferences multiple times.
The purchase credits are used as currency to buy a measurement. This needs to be stored to avoid losing your currency.
When the user uses the app to measure points in the real world, he/she will create a project containing information necessary to perform the calculations, such as camera parameters, the detected markers in the photos, and the calculated points.
When a project is made, the user can close the app and continue or purchase the measurement another time. This data is also necessary for the server to calculate the points in the real world.
The photos taken with the app will be stored on the device on a location that only the app has access to. It will be stored with their original resolution and a resized thumbnail.
The reason the photos are stored is mainly for user feedback. By looking at the photo, the user can see which markers were detected and which were not.
The name of the project and the purchase date of every purchase is stored on disk.
With this information the users know which projects were purchased. Because these purchases are stored on the server, these can be used in case the user lost his data and wants to recover it by contacting Science [&] Technology Vision B.V.
When you use the MarkerScan app, the following data may be send to the server for the purposes of calculating points in the real world and sending the result to the user.
When the user uses the app to measure points in the real world, he/she will create a project containing information necessary to perform the calculations, such as camera parameters, the detected markers in the photos, and the calculated points. It also contains some user information such as contact name and email address.
The information is necessary for calculating the points in the real world and sending the result to the user. It is stored on the server in case the user lost his data and wants to recover it. This can be aqcuired by contacting Science [&] Technology Vision B.V.
When purchasing a calculated project, thumbnails of the photos are send to the server. These photos are resized versions of the actual photos (512x512)
The thumbnails are stored for debugging reasons. If the marker detection does not work as expected, the thumbnails can be used to recreate the situation to improve the algorithm.
- Data is stored on the device on which MarkerScan is running.
- Data is also stored on the premises of Science [&] Technology Vision B.V. for the purposes of data backup and improving the app.
The application data on the device is only accessible by the user, and only through the app.
The measurement data on the server is available to authorised Science [&] Technology Vision B.V. staff.
None of the data is shared with any other third party, either individuals or organisations.
The data retention period is 10 years.
Please contact Science [&] Technology Vision B.V. if you have any queries regarding the data collected by this App, including removal or destruction of data.
